About On A Box™

Take your sport seriously. Yourself, not so much.

On A Box™ is apparel for people who somehow turned a hobby into a significant portion of their personality.

We wake up before sunrise.

We spend way too much on gear.

We obsess over sleep scores, HRV, watts, pace, rankings and whatever number our watch says matters today.

We plan vacations suspiciously close to races and tournaments.

And sometimes we make our families wait around for 90 minutes just so we can stand on a box.

We take what we do seriously.

We just think we should be able to laugh at ourselves while doing it.

How This Started

On A Box started after a triathlon in Wisconsin.

I finished the race, made the podium and then waited around for roughly 90 minutes for the awards ceremony.

My wife was there.

My kids were there.

My father-in-law was there.

Everybody was waiting.

For what?

So I could get a medal, take a picture and stand on a little podium.

And I remember thinking:

We do an unbelievable amount of ridiculous stuff...

SO I CAN STAND ON A BOX.

That sounded like a shirt.

So I started messing around with ideas.

A day or two later, I had an LLC, an EIN, a website, social accounts and a pile of shirt samples on the way.

Apparently I was starting an apparel company.

It's Bigger Than The Podium

You don't actually have to win anything to understand On A Box.

Maybe you're chasing an age-group podium.

Maybe you're trying to break four hours in the marathon.

Maybe you paid for a half marathon because you needed to run 18 miles that day anyway.

Maybe your pickleball paddle collection somehow became a paddle problem.

Maybe your Saturday morning ride now requires nutrition, electronics, specialized clothing and a recovery strategy.

The box is really about the chase.

Finding something you care about.

Getting increasingly serious about it.

Spending questionable amounts of time and money getting better.

And realizing somewhere along the way that the whole thing is a little ridiculous.

Those are our people.

The Clothes Should Be Good Too

A funny saying isn't enough.

I don't want On A Box to be a collection of cheap novelty shirts that get worn once and disappear into the back of a drawer.

We're testing fabrics, fits, shirts, hoodies and printing methods because the goal is simple:

Make the joke something you notice.
Make the garment something you actually want to wear.

The first products are being tested the same way the brand is being built — in public, with feedback from the athletes who might eventually wear them.

Built With The People Who Get It

On A Box isn't being created behind closed doors by a marketing team.

We're putting designs in front of runners, triathletes, cyclists, pickleball players and other overly committed adults and asking:

Would you actually wear this?

People vote.

They comment.

They tell us when an idea is great.

They tell us when one sucks.

And the best ideas move forward.

So if you're here early, you're not just watching a company launch.

You can help decide what it becomes.

Maybe This Works.

Maybe On A Box becomes a real apparel brand worn at races, tournaments, trailheads and transition areas everywhere.

Maybe I sell three shirts and my friends and family get extremely repetitive Christmas presents.

Either way, I'm documenting the whole thing.

The designs.

The product testing.

The wins.

The mistakes.

And hopefully a lot more boxes along the way.

Welcome to On A Box™.

Yourself, not so much.
